Join forester Theodore Thomas to learn the secrets for identifying our native trees and shrubs in winter. This popular field class will increase your appreciation of the beautiful intricacies of bare twigs and the beauty of the LBA Woods before leaves appear. Please send confirmation of your registration (click Join, scroll down, click Submit to register) to jgessley@ci.olympia.wa.us. Without this step, you are not confirmed to attend. I will send a proof of registration email as the final step, with confirmation of the number of participants in your party.
This is a great class for the beginning botanist, the curious naturalist, and for volunteer park stewards interested in improving their plant identification skills for restoration activities.
This class is FREE. Group size will be limited to 10 participants. All participants can use our Winter in the Woods identification booklet, and take home the full plant list and descriptions.
We will meet at the picnic shelter in LBA Park at the dead-end of Amhurst St. (near the tennis courts/restrooms) and walk into the woods from there. Registration is required to attend.
Please dress for the weather, and ready to walk up a few slopes and hills. This event is rain or shine and will be cancelled only if high-wind conditions or icy roads are present.
