An adult must accompany youth under the age of 14. Any youth under 18 years of age without an adult present must have an online waiver signed electronically by a parent/guardian.

To best support our amazing volunteers, we are temporarily suspending new Restoration Steward applications. We invite you to attend our volunteer work parties listed on the Opportunity page.

Join staff and stewards as we remove Scotch broom and Himalayan blackberry along the newly paved trail. Removing these introduced plants will allow the indigenous vegetation to thrive in restoration areas. Meet near the new boardwalk, about a 10-minute walk from the kiosk. Directional signs will be posted.  Street parking is available on Kaiser Rd.

Show your support for Earth Day by participating in a restoration project at Squaxin Park! The City of Olympia is teaming up with the PARC Foundation of Thurston County and local Lions Clubs to celebrate Earth Day in style with a fun and exciting volunteer work party. Thanks to Lions Club donations, the school with the most student volunteers will win cash for their school! Tools, gloves, and light refreshments will be provided. The park is located at 2600 East Bay Drive NE. Meet at kitchen/shelter #2. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early to park and sign in. Carpooling, drop-off, or alternative transportation is strongly recommended, as parking is limited.

This work party will focus on removing harmful English ivy from areas restored by Park Stewards. They have worked hard for years to clean English ivy and holly from the forested habitats. We will meet at the Flora Vista parking lot, 555 Flora Vista Rd NE, and walk to the work area. Limited parking available.

Explorer training includes, but is not limited to:

• Leadership Training
• Officer Safety
• Public Speaking Opportunities
• Statewide Competitions

Explorers play a vital role in the Olympia Police Department.  They provide assistance at a variety of events including but not limited to:

•  Event Security: Lake Fair, Olympia Wooden Boat Fair, Harbor Days, Arts Walk, etc.
•  Traffic Control: Lake Fair Parade, Marathons, Toy Run, etc.
•  State Government: Valet Parking at the Governor’s Mansion

Prospective Explorers Must:
• Be 15-20 Years Old
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or Higher
• Be a resident of Thurston County
• Attend Weekly Meetings
• Donate 12 Hours of Community Service
• Have No Criminal History
• Have No Serious Discipline Problems at School
