Restoration celebration! We will remove Himalayan blackberry and other introduced plants encroaching on the lovely Pacific Northwest vegetation. The park entrance is located at 1600 10th Ave SE. Parking lot available. Meet under the large walnut tree. Long pants/sleeves are strongly recommended.

Whether you are considering a law enforcement or any related criminal justice career (i.e., FBI Agent, Detective, Lawyer, Military, Judge, Corrections Officer, etc), the Explorer Program will provide you the tools and skills to be successful, while giving back to your community.

Explorer training includes, but is not limited to:    
• Boot Camp Academy
• Building Search Strategies and Field Training
• Domestic Violence Training
• Fire Arm Safety
• Leadership Training
• Officer Safety
• Public Speaking Opportunities
• Statewide Competitions

Explorers play a vital role in the Olympia Police Department.  They provide assistance at a variety of events including but not limited to:


•  Event Security: Lake Fair, Olympia Wooden Boat Fair, Harbor Days, Arts Walk, etc.
•  Traffic Control: Lake Fair Parade, Marathons, Toy Run, etc.
•  State Government: Valet Parking at the Governor’s Mansion

Prospective Explorers Must:
• Be 15-20 Years Old
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or Higher
• Be a resident of Thurston County
• Attend Weekly Meetings
• Donate 12 Hours of Community Service
• Have No Criminal History
• Have No Serious Discipline Problems at School
